Dementia
Changes and Challenges
About the Author:
At the time of diagnosis like most people I knew very little about Dementia.
Since that time, it has been a steep learning curve, but the journey has not
been all bad. It as woken the sleeper within and inspired me to Advocate for
others with Dementia who have been less fortunate, and to help make the
rest of the community more aware of what living with Dementia is really like.
I was elected as chair of the Dementia Advisory Group to the Dementia
Friendly Kiama Project in 2014. The position of Chief DAG is one I hold dear
and am most proud of. This has introduced me to many people worldwide
who are living well with Dementia and to such groups as the Dementia
Alliance International.
This has also introduced me to many research projects and public forums, that
enable me to share my Lived Experience and the experiences of my friends
with Dementia.
